HEAR provides a ‘level playing pitch’ for students from socio-economic disadvantaged backgrounds accessing higher education. It provides academic, personal and social support in the participating institutions – for more information on HEAR go to the dedicated website www.accesscollege.ie
Hi Aisling, the blog looks great! And genuinely useful as well.
ReplyDeleteYou might like to mention DARE (Disability Access Route to Education) as well as HEAR- they're usually publicised together so a person would probably come across one through the other. Individual colleges have specific quotas of people they accept through this route. For example DCU have a 5% quota whereas UCD's first year intake quota is 15% - could make all the difference to a student!
Thanks for comment and helpful advice Grainne. I'll do some research into DARE and post up some info.
